Hello people.  How are you today, I am great!  Yesterday I attended the Marketer’s Association of Zimbabwe’s first event of the year which was the Marketer’s Luncheon.  I have to say I was impressed.  I have been a member of the association for two years now but I avoided attending any events until I had established my brand.  If you are a marketer and you are not in this association I encourage you to join.  The next events are on the 26th and the 27th of this month, I will definitely be there.  Yesterday the CEO of Telone Mrs Chipo Mtasa made a speech on what a CEO requires from a marketer.  As you know marketing is a critical part of any strategy.  I will share with you some of the main points below.

  • Passion: A CEO wants a marketer who is passionate and takes the lead
  • Inquisitive: Mrs Mtasa wants a marketer who knows what is going on in the world
  • Competence: A marketer should be capable of executing tasks allocated to him/her
  • Networking: A marketer should be able to connect with all the stakeholders
  • CEO’s Voice: The CEO wants a marketer who can communicate the firm’s strategy
  • Feedback: A marketer should be able to gather feedback from all stakeholders
  • Business Intelligence: A marketer should be a fly on the wall gathering information
  • Focus: A CEO wants a marketer to focus on what will drive the firm forward
  • Customer Centric: A marketer should ensure that the customers are satisfied

These are just the main points, you just had to be there.  So, are you fulfilling these requirements?  Are there any other requirements that are needed over and above the ones that I have mentioned?  Are there some that should be removed?
